"Just got the news!!! After three days without water (we buy drinking water, so we're okay there), my neighbor just told me that the local paper said 20 days this time!!! Please pray for me, folks. This is getting old..." Another month gone !
We finished out the month in a great way though ! Brother Tom Worden preached for us in all the services yesterday and brought some very challenging messages.. My thanks go out to him and his family for the great day of fellowship we all enjoyed. Good morning !
Time has really escaped me . That is my way of saying where did the time go ? Here it is March already and it is almost gone ! It is true that one quarter of 2014 is almost gone , but we can still "redeem " the remainder of the year. Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Strongs defines "redeem" thus "2a) to make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good, so that zeal and well doing are as it were the purchase money by which we make the time our own " Note the "doing good" , we have an example to follow Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Some may think we have backslid or gone "liberal" but , we have just temporarily cancelled our Wednesday night meetings due to the extreme cold conditions / winter weather.
Set aside a time of prayer especially on Wednesday`s for each other , our church , our nation . 1 Tim. 2:1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. A few things we ought to do this coming New Year...............
Stand.......Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Speak.......... Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Spend time with the Lord............Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Sacrifice................Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Today is Veterans Day , a day in which we remember and honor those who have served our country by wearing a uniform.
Many gave their lives so that we would have the freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted in our country. Our country has always depended on those who would defend us from external threats, but the threat is now from within. America is much like the rest of the world , we have forgotten God , become proud of our own accomplishments ,and become focused on the temporal verses the eternal. The only hope for our nation in my opinion is for God`s people to get serious and put 2 Chron. 7:14 into practice. The responsibility lies on us "If my people.........." We have had some GREAT meetings, the messages are exactly what we`ve prayed for and needed !
Bro. Qualls has an uncanny ability to discern the needs of the congregation , the Holy Spirit has touched lives through the preaching this week. One more nite left, it has been a very VERY fast week ! We will start our fall revival services this coming Sunday the 20th thru Friday the 25th .Bro Qualls will once again be with us and we are looking forward to his messages for us. To make the statement that our churches and nation need revival is as they say a "no brainer". How much farther can America drift away from God? The question is not "Do we need revival " but "Do we want revival" ? I for one need and want it! It is so easy to drift , get cold and grow apathetic to the things of God , is it not ? If you can`t join us in our meetings , please join us in prayers for our churches and nation. Psalm 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Felt like a fall morning this morning , my favorite time of the year ! I enjoy the cool crisp fresh air , good for yard work put off all summer. Seeing the leaves change color and fall to the ground , and no I don`t rake them up. Seeing the farmers get in their summer crops , cotton, corn , peanuts almost ready to harvest. All things go thru a season, families , churches, nations .Spring a time of new life after a cold sometimes brutal winter, then there is summer, a time of planting , growing enjoying life , followed by fall , shorter days, harvest , perhaps a time of reflection on the past blessings given to us by God. Then comes winter , all the plants go dormant , a time for the land and us to rest.Often times we think of winter as a time of death but that is not the case , it is a "picture" of the resurrection , a newness of life , that we can all have in Christ. John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. |
